BCD GRADUATION AND ANNUAL DAY, 2014

SUNDAY CONGREGATIONAL WORSHIP
BCD GRADUATION AND ANNUAL DAY, 2014
EBCC DELHI | DWARKA, NEW DELHI
30th NOVEMBER 2014 | 11:00AM

Based on Eph 6:1 Local Pastor made a prelude and dedicated the Worship Service and Project Nehemia’s Calendar 2015. Baptist Children Department (BCD) Worship Team led the congregation in singing hymns of praises which was consumed into Mass Prayer; And as offertory was brought to the pulpit, Upa Khamkhanpau Guite, consecrated the same. Local Upa L. Ngulminthang made announcements in connection with the ensuing Christmas 2014 celebrations and mentioned that this is going to be the 21st Christmas celebration hold by this church. He also retold that our first celebration was held in a Scooter garage.

FAREWELL SPEECH: Local Chairman, Upa Damsomthang made a farewell speech for Evan. Khaikhuphang, Pastor’s Assistant. He is completing his tenure here and is due for ordination as a Pastor at EBCC Khawmpilian to be held in December and he is also to tie the knot with Miss Nianggelvung on 19th December 2014, if God willing. Farewell message was displayed through the projector. Local Chairman mentioned that Evan. Hangpu is a dedicated and humble servant of God, well loved by members of this church. A small gift as a token of love and appreciation was presented to him. Evan. Hangpu made a short speech expressing his gratitude and happiness about the co-operation and affection he received here and requested the church members to uphold him in their prayers.

BCD GRADUATION: Upa Thianzakham, BCD Superintendent, then came to stage. He made note of ‘BCD Graduation’ as an important ceremony of EBCC for one who attained the age of 18 is taken as a mature person and promoted to BYF. He thanked God for his wonderful guidance and blessings. He also requested the congregants to be co-operative, a guide and ever-ready to help the graduating members. He also cued the importance of stressing on the foundations and that parents should not rely just on the BCD Sunday School teachers but also be aware of their responsibilities in the upbringings of their children. The Superintendent then flashed farewell message for the graduating members through Projector. He presented Graduation Certificates to the new graduates. Heutupa Thangsuanmang, BCD Secretary, mentioned that in 2013, 7 children were promoted; and this year, 9 children were promoted. He played short videos of these graduates: Their bio-data, interview, response and what they learned from BCD. The new graduates were called on the dais and the list of their names was handed over to the Local Secretary, who presented them a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation. Pastor Nenglian Vualnam made intercession for them.

SERMON OF THE DAY:
THEME: PICHINNA ~IPet 1: 13-15

The Pastor took to the pulpit and made his sermon on ‘Maturity.’ He mentioned that he interacted with today’s graduates the other day. He also mentioned that it is the practice of EBCC to hold Graduation Ceremonies for those who attained the age of 18 as they are considered mature. However, one also needs to be baptized to become a full communicant member. Graduation does not mean that one attained freedom to do whatever one likes. Rather, one has reached a stage of life where one can achieve bigger things as one has been equipped with the courses he have taken from Beginner to Senior classes while in BCD. He stressed on the following points:

·         Christ-filled life
·         Life based on Christ
·         Preparing minds
·         The challenges of freedom
·         Life’s struggles
·         Cling onto the Bible in times of trial and hardships
·         Disciplined life
·         Hope in Christ
·         Stay away from Evil desires/ thought
·         Holy/ pious life.

CONCLUSION:  Local Chairman, Upa Damsomthang, close the worship service with prayer.

Shirt Rekindling Memory

Wearing a long-sleeved shirt at our office, UPSC, today (17th November 2014) which was bought way back in 2001 while i worked at a small private school (H.E.S.) as a part of staff's uniform still fits me perfectly. This automatically draws lots of thoughts in me. It reminds me of how time flies.

The Shirt stills fitting me perfectly takes me to think as to whether i have grown physically since then. But how can i measure the mental side of growth which i might have achieved? What would be the parameters to scale my maturity? I hope I know...

It's always the nobility, kindness, patience, perseverance, forgiveness and all that wishes one had for the good of others is a positive sign of growth. I though i acquire a bit more of those of late, though much more lies for improvement.

Then, i was a single. But now I am blessed with a loving wife and two lovely angels. My grandpa seems to be happy with us. Thank God!
